Baltic Jazz 2019

About Baltic Jazz Festival

The history

The festival is being arranged already for the 32nd time in the year 2019!

The festival was founded by Magi and Kaj Kulla in 1987. The festival has grown over the years but has managed to preserve its genuine warm and cozy feeling.

Baltic Jazz is just magic!

The classic happy jazz has been the festival's trade mark from the beginning. But from the year 2013 the concept was changed to appeal to a broader audience than just the friends of classic jazz. And we succeeded!

The activity at Baltic Jazz is based upon voluntary work. The “Intresseförening för Jazzmusik I Dalsbuk r.f.” (The registered interest association of jazz music in Dalsbruk) consist of an artistic director, an executive manager and around 10 team leaders. The association has a very active board. When each festival ends the board immediately starts to plan the following festival. During the festival there are about 150 volunteers arranging seating, doing office work, selling tickets, guiding or transporting musicians and working as festival guards. Most of the volunteers are local people, but enthusiastic friends of the “Baltic Jazz family” come to help with the festival arrangements from all over Finland and from abroad. But we trust only in professionals when it comes to the artistic and technical side of the festival.

Other services

Dalsbruk offers the audience a wide variety of services: shops, food and beverages, an ATM machine, the Jazz street market, toilets etc. Especially the mill museum is worth a visit. You can get answers to all kinds of questions at the Baltic Jazz info kiosk which you find on the jazz site. Tickets are needed only for the concerts, but you can enjoy the atmosphere at the jazz site for free!

First aid personnel from the Red Cross are on call at the site and provides assistance if needed. The main part of all the hotels and lodging are usually fully booked during the festival but the temporary camping site close to the festival is a popular place to stay.
