Baltic Jazz House Band
The Baltic Jazz House Band consists of Aki Virta (bass), Axel Kalland (alto sax), Niklas Korhonen (piano) and Toon Verheyen (drums).
Toon and Axel started playing together in the fall of 2006, when Toon moved from the Kimito Island to study music and finish upper secondary school in Helsinki, Axel was only 15 years old but already a skilled saxophonist. Niklas started studying at the same school in 2007 and soon the three young men noticed that they shared a musical interest – jazz. They founded a trio which frequently performed at different venues and they hosted their own event called "Sandels Jazz Club" at the Sandels house in Helsinki. The trio became a quartet (Walking Quarters) in 2008 when Aki joined the band.
Walking Quarters has been playing at for example jazz clubs, youth events, private parties, company parties and cafés. The band has also played at Mariehamn Winter Jazz in 2009. From 2010 the band will function as Baltic Jazz House Band.
